Kama'aina Kritters
We foster kittens in need of extra TLC through the Hawaii Humane Society and through strays handed to us. Through the years we have seen many lives touch our hearts and we try our best to find them a loving home. Here are a few of our success stories.
Sometimes we invite our furry adopted ones back for a visit. Such was the case with Sammy whose mommy needed him to be cared for while she took care of some business on an outter island. This was a letter sent to her about his first days at "camp".
Hi Mom,
I had a blast at camp yesterday! I made two new friends and met a lot of humans! I talked to everyone and got into some neat places, but I kept getting scolded! I don't know why they would scold me, if they didn't want me to investigate then why do they have all that cool stuff? Oh well I will convince them otherwise because I am so very cute! :) My new friends are kind of little but still fun to play with. There is the little black scrappy one they call Bugsy. He tells me he was named because of his wonderful eyes but he likes to think that he was really named after the gangster, he says that fits him so much better. We like to roll around and chase each other, he makes funny sounds when I am chewing on him but he keeps coming back so it must just be how he plays. Then there is the cute one named Oreo, they say that is the name of a cookie that he looks like but I have never seen a cookie that looks like a cat. Humans! Oreo plays too but just watches when Bugsy and I wrestle. I think he is learning from me and will jump in when he has mastered my technique, we would make a great tag team. I wandered around all day talking to people and playing hard to catch, but I would let them pick me up to scratch my ears every so often. I shared my lunch with my new friends and then we took a nap on the couch in the back office. Bugsy must not have passed his bathing class because his ears were really dirty! So I gave him a bath so we could have a clean sleep and we napped a good long time until some person came in saying she just had to pet us. Why don't humans just grow their own fur and leave ours alone! One of the humans kept saying my fur is so much softer since she last saw me and that my mommy must be taking good care of me and giving me baths. I don't know how she knows me but when I heard that awful word bath I just had to get up and hide! She must know you if she knows about that! I love camp mom, they don't do the bath thing here!
Later in the day I was told we were going home, but you weren't there so I thought maybe they were going to deliver me to you. My new friends and I got in this big bag and we were put in a moving thing, kind of like what you have but not the same. When the bag was opened we all got out but I wasn't at home! Mom you wouldn't believe where I was! I was at that place that took care of me before I adopted you. The place with all the big kitties, but they don't seem so big now, and the bird in the big cage, the man that gave me yummy morsels, and the lady that I liked to ambush for attention. I didn't bother to say hello and I took off to investigate. I met a bunch of kitties and found some food bowls, neat toys and windows galore but nothing to climb! They need to fix that. I chased a silky black kitty that wasn't amused, she must have had a bad day, they call her Spookie but she doesn't scare me at all. I wandered around, did some talking, did some eating, then when it was bed time my friends and I followed the transporter to her bed. The little ones didn't seem to know what to do but I did. I curled up at her legs and settled in. You would be proud of me mom, I only got up once or twice and after checking to see if everyone was sleeping I went back to sleep.
Today, a new day, started out just like at home! We ate, wandered around, then got in the bag again to go back to work. Do you think I will get paid for this work thing? I mean I should, I give attention and great conversation and entertainment, I will have to check with the kitty labor laws about this.

This is Buggsy and he needs a loving home. He was bottle raised with his sister Shiva and Tequilla, two others that have been adopted out. Buggsy is very loving and is very personable. He enjoys playing with other kitties and likes human interaction very much. He is now about four months old and is a sleek short haired black cat with orange eyes. You can see a more recent picture of him above with Sammy and Oreo. Sometimes he comes to work with us and other times he stays at home to play with the big kitties. No one seems to be at all interested with him and this concerns us because he is such a loving cat. Buggsy needs to go to a loving home that will keep him indoors and lavish their love on him. He likes to sleep with his humans at night and talks only when there is something that needs attention. Won't you consider him please.
